COD Foundation
has raised more than $35 million in support over the last 12 years and has given the College over $15 million.


The Foundation currently manages total assets of over
$17 million. Through the management of these funds,
the Foundation will provide income to
the College for decades to come.
 
 

Funds given directly to the College include scholarships for students, scholarships for the children of COD students to attend the Child Development Center, funds to purchase equipment and software, funds to renovate the science building and Marks Center for the Arts, mini-grants to faculty for professional development and improving classroom instruction, support for the Library, new program dollars for the Nursing and Public Safety Academy programs, support for “Smart classrooms”, etc.

"The California Community Colleges is the largest higher educational system in the nation comprised of 72 districts and 110 colleges with more than 2.7 million students per year. Community colleges are the largest workforce provider in the state and offer more than 175 degree and certificate programs in hundreds of fields such as, advance manufacturing, biotechnology, business and computer science. The system trains more than 70 percent of nurses and 80 percent of the fire, law enforcement and emergency medical technicians in California."

The Mission of the Foundation is to enhance the quality of higher education in the Coachella Valley by encouraging public and private support for College of the Desert.
