For 50 years, College of the Desert has served as the Coachella Valley’s center for higher education, occupational and technical training and lifelong learning. Today, College of the Desert opens the door to brighter futures and expanded opportunities for more than 13,000 students in the Coachella Valley annually.

The program in Agriculture is one of College of the Desert's first and oldest programs and is designed to serve both occupational and transfer students. Many courses primarily serve students who wish to enter an occupation after graduation.
Courses are designed to provide practical experience, as well as academic background.
Students who wish to prepare for four-year colleges will find not only the necessary required transfer courses in English, science, mathematics, and related subjects available to them, but also departmental courses related to their majors, including:

Program Infrastructure
Courses are designed and offered at the Agriculture Science Center on the main Palm Desert campus on a 4.5-acre working lab.
The lab consists of classrooms, shaded grow areas, over 17,000 sq. ft. for student plots, outdoor turf research and putting green instruction areas, tractor and turf equipment repair, more than 9,000 sq. ft. of shadehouses and greenhouses, and over 400 different plant species used in instruction.
