Priority Support Areas

Visual Arts Building:

COD is undertaking a major replacement of its Visual Arts Building, located on the main Palm Desert campus. The new Building will provide desperately needed replacement classroom and studio space designed to enhance the learning environment, address safety and security issues, and add technological upgrades.
The new building will add and expand studio and exhibit areas for drawing, photography, ceramics, sculpture, printmaking, and painting. In all, 12,000 square feet of space will be replaced to improve the creative learning environment and educational experience for hundreds of art students for years to come.

The Visual Arts Building will address the long-unmet need for formal and informal learning and exhibition space. Designed by renowned architects Perkins + Will, the Visual Arts Building draws together a uniquely diverse arts community of students, alumni, faculty, and guest artists. This beautiful new facility, with its inspiring open spaces, features premiere state-of-the-art studios, exhibition space, amphitheater, exciting programming, and a stunning display of public art on the main college campus.

A scholarship to College of the Desert Foundation in support of the arts helps ensure COD can provide the next generation of leaders in the visual and performing arts fields. Our impact is significant throughout the valley. Also significant is the impact the creative economy has on the valley’s economy and quality of life. Special endowed funds exist to support students in Studio Arts, Music, and Musical Theater. You may contribute to one of these funds or to general student scholarships.
Today almost 90% of students at COD are eligible for some form of financial aid. The cost for one year of school at COD with books is roughly $3,000.
